Liff, Walsh & Simmons Partner and Employment Law Practice Director Melissa Menkel McGuire joined the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce for a panel discussion on the FTC proposed rule banning noncompete agreements. The panel weighs the pros and cons of the proposed non-compete ban:

In discussing the proposed FTC rule, Melissa recommended:

“[I]f you bring on a new employee who is coming from a competitor, whether [they] have an or agreement or not, that you be very careful and make it clear to the employee that they are not to use confidential information from the former employer….because you can get into trouble whether [they] have a noncompete or not.”
