Jonathan W. McGowan
Jon is an Associate Attorney at Liff, Walsh & Simmons, and a member of the Business Law, Estates & Trusts, Real Estate and Commercial Finance practice groups. His business practice focuses on assisting clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and general corporate matters. He counsels individuals and families to help develop custom estate plans and business succession plans that address the client’s specific needs in order to help protect and impart their legacy. His real estate and finance practice touches areas of acquisition, development, leasing and lending in the representation of buyers, sellers, and private and commercial lenders. Jon also serves as Counsel to the firm’s affiliated title company, Eagle Title, LLC.
Jon obtained his Bachelor of Science from the Helms School of Government at Liberty University with a focus in Western Legal Traditions. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law where he graduated in the top six percent of his class. While in law school, Jon was an honoree of the Royal Shannonhouse Honor Society and served as a member of the University of Baltimore Law Forum and the Real Estate Law Association.
Jon is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and the Anne Arundel County Estate Planning Council. Additionally, he enjoys volunteering in various community activities, including those with Lighthouse Church and Arundel High School, his alma mater. He serves on the Board of Directors for Bethany Christian Services of Maryland and as President of the Annapolis Bourbon Club. Jon grew up in Crofton, Maryland, where he and his family currently reside.
